With VELscope®, we can diagnose oral cancer in its earliest stages when it is most treatable. Using a special light, this tool illuminates dark spots and irregularities that would otherwise be invisible to the unaided eye. If we notice abnormalities, we can recommend appropriate treatment.
DIAGNOdent
To diagnose a cavity in its earliest stages, we use DIAGNOdent®, a sophisticated laser that detects caries or very small areas of decay. This handheld device uses fluorescence to identify damaged areas, which will appear brighter than others. We can then treat accordingly with a composite filling.
Extractions
In cases of severe tooth decay or trauma, you may require extraction. We use advanced techniques to make this procedure as comfortable as possible. We can also place a dental implant in the same visit. We do not perform wisdom tooth extractions, but can refer you to an oral surgeon if needed.
Sedation
Your comfort is important to us, which is why we offer various sedation options. If you suffer from dental anxiety or need to undergo a more complex procedure, we can provide an oral sedative, nitrous oxide, or intravenous (IV) sedation administered by a nurse anesthetist.
Mouthguards
If you play sports or grind your teeth (also known as bruxism), we can create a custom mouthguard to protect your teeth from damage. Mouthguards can be worn at night when you sleep or during sports practices and games, and are designed for optimal comfort.
Pediatric Dentistry
We treat children of all ages to ensure a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. To encourage excellent dental hygiene, we have a Cavity-Free Club, where we teach our youngest patients the proper ways to care for their smile, while making sure their primary and permanent teeth develop correctly.
Comprehensive Examinations
Comprehensive biannual exams are an important part of oral healthcare. During your visit, we can examine the health of your gums, jaw, and teeth. Using advanced technology, we can diagnose and treat conditions in their earliest stages, saving you from complex restorative treatments in the future.
Teeth Cleaning
During biannual visits, we can professionally clean and polish your teeth, removing plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas. We can also demonstrate the proper techniques for brushing, flossing, and rinsing, so you can improve your at-home hygiene regimen.
Periodontal Therapy
If you have developed periodontal or gum disease, we can use a CO2 laser in conjunction with traditional deep cleaning to remove bacteria. If left untreated, bacteria can damage the gums and eventually the bone that supports the teeth, resulting in gum recession and tooth loss.
